Our thesis is that technology can solve the sustainability challenges facing commercial insurance, and to accomplish this we’re building a platform that incentivizes our clients to adopt the best tools when they buy our coverage. Across construction and other commercial markets, technology is available but fundamentally underutilized, despite the potential for improving loss outcomes and stopping this crisis.
To date, Shepherd has raised $20M+ from top tier VCs including Y-Combinator, Susa Ventures, Spark Capital, Costanoa Ventures, Era Ventures, Greenlight RE and Intact Ventures.
Shepherd is growing and our product responsibilities are growing across our internal platform and our external tools. You will work cross-functionally within Shepherd (across our insurance, underwriting, product, and engineering teams) and externally (across brokers, contractors, re-insurers). You will be responsible to develop a cohesive vision and strategy for product development, maintain oversight of PRDs and assign tasks to individuals related to products, gather information and data from insurance brokers and contractors and incorporate feedback into product strategy. Most importantly, we are looking for a candidate who will shape the future of product and the product org at Shepherd.
6+ years of experience building software products and services, focus on FinTech, Insurtech, and/or risk management preferred
Strong experience with modeling, working in Excel and/or actuarial models
Strong experience working on new green-field products, working closely with design partners and early customers
Comfortable with change and rapid iteration
Willingness to work cross-functionally and fill in gaps where needed
Bonus: comfortable working with SQL
